Operation Christmas Child 2021 Members and friends of Glenfield Methodist Church have been working hard for the ‘Shoe Box’ appeal by taking part in 'Operation Christmas Child', a charity organised by 'Samaritan’s Purse'. Your enthusiasm for this unique way of giving gifts to poor children in so many parts of the world is heart warming, so thank you to all who have taken part, whether that has been filling and decorating shoe boxes or by providing items to go into shoe boxes or giving donations to cover the cost of postage (£5 per box). This year because of the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic we were not sure how many shoe boxes to expect but we have been delighted to have received 85 filled shoe boxes and also an estimated amount of £515 in donations to help meet the costs of transporting our gifts to their faraway destinations. Our thanks go to Wally and Linda York for once again taking on the task of organising and promoting this very special charity on behalf of Glenfield Methodist Church. Our Christmas Charity Our November charity is “Crisis at Christmas' which is a national charity for homeless people. Last year we raised £741 for this charity, including gift aid which gave 26 homeless people a new chance in life by providing somewhere for them to stay at Christmas. They also receive access to friendship and support from volunteer befrienders; essential food and festive treats and other voluntary support, including training and education. We hope to raise a similar amount this year, with your help and support.
