Minister's Letter

Dear Friends
Having revelled in Christmas and then embraced the New Year, the shops are now full of reminders of forthcoming dates in the calendar – Valentine’s Day and Easter. Valentine’s Day is more than a celebration of romance; it is a reminder of the greatest love ever given—the love of God. The Bible tells us, “God is love” (1 John 4:8), and every expression of true love flows from Him. On this day, we are invited to reflect on Christ’s sacrificial love, a love that is patient, kind, forgiving, and unconditional. God demonstrated the depth of His love by sending His Son, Jesus, to give His life for us. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13). This powerful truth reminds us that love is not just a feeling, but a choice—one that seeks the good of others, even when it requires sacrifice. Christ’s love sets the perfect example for how we are called to love one another.
Valentine’s Day also encourages us to express love in our daily lives. Whether through marriage, family, friendship, or acts of service, love is meant to be shared generously. The Apostle Paul describes love as enduring all things, hoping all things, and never failing (1 Corinthians 13:7–8). When we allow God’s love to shape our hearts, our words and actions become reflections of His grace.
We may give or even receive cards, gifts, and kind words to day, but let us remember that the greatest gift is love rooted in Christ. May our lives point others to Him as we love sincerely, serve faithfully, and live out the truth that God’s love is the foundation of all true love
Every blessing,
Joy Langford
