Minister's Letter

Picture
Topic: Are you proud of your true colours ?
During a conversation with a friend, I mentioned that a mutual friend was not well, had been admitted, but now has been discharged. Then I was asked: “Is he still a cheat?” This question left me ashamed, not only that a friend of mine could be described as a cheat, but that one could make it their intention to set out to cheat others. The wheat and the tares growing together until the day of harvest (Matthew 13: 24 -30), may be interpreted as: People practicing good virtues and people who cheat may live side-by-side. In nature, as plants grow, one may see their true colours and those colours may change. Furthermore, weeds may grow around the intended vegetation.
The above question seeking to know the current status of the cheat, reminded me about the topic of my previous article, which was: “We grow by using God’s grace and mercy”. To use God’s grace and mercy, Jesus came to seek and save those who are lost. ‘‘Today salvation has come to this house’’ were the words that Jesus said to Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10). Last week Christians recognised the coming of the Holy Spirit, referred to as Pentecost, on a group of believers. After the Holy Spirit came, believers were able to speak languages other than their native tongue. Peter a zealous Apostle, delivered an address to onlookers, who needed to understand the changes that they witnessed. Peter’s speech presented that: everyone who calls on the name of Jesus Christ will be saved (Acts 2:21).
In this article I invite readers to recognize that we have an opportunity to be saved like Zacchaeus was saved after he met Jesus Christ. Zacchaeus took actions to put right the wrongs he had done. He made an undertaking to reverse the cheating, sin and crime that he had perpetrated, which brought difficulties on others. Consequently, he received salvation. The grace and mercy from God ‘to forgive all who repent and turn from their hurtful ways’ is available to whosoever comes face to face with their true colours and wish to change and turnaround to righteousness.
Personally, I forgave my friend, who was a cheat, and I believe that such forgiveness is also available from God in the name of Jesus Christ. I pray that the Holy Spirit of God will help us to love and forgive one another. Moreover, I pray that we would examine our ways, character and conducts, which courses pain and hurt to other people. Turn away from doing such hurt and live in peace with one another. As far as I know I am pleased to say that my friend is not a cheat anymore. The transformation is so great that I thank God that he had the opportunity to repent of his ways and took it, just as Zacchaeus did. Finally, I invite any amongst us who needs to make such turnaround to do so now. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Loving regards
Sydney-Samuel
